The God Chasers

God Chasers - 1. Discipleship is the core of Christianity, and the final commission Jesus gave to His disciples. Be, and make, disciples. If you have accepted all God has to offer through Jesus, salvation, redemption, grace, and so much more, accepting His invitation to become a disciple, to “follow me”, is the response. A life-long journey in knowing God deeply, reflecting Christ, and a transformation into a life that reflects Christ/ This is a follow up to the 12 part series, Something More”, which can also be found on this channel. It is an invitation to become a God chaser, knowing He has been pursuing you all your life.  You have been chosen, just like the original twelve disciples.  Will you accept the invitation?

God Chasers - 2. There is a cost to discipleship, but the cost isn’t what we would expect. By surrendering fully to God, He promises immense riches of blessings in return, which ultimately continues for eternity with Him. Yet for all those who wanted to be disciples, Jesus told them up front to consider the cost, and weigh the commitment needed. However, when a person answers the call to be a disciple, they partner together with Jesus for life.

God Chasers - 3. The (not so) secret to the Christian walk, and successful discipleship journey, is to be connected to Christ. This living, vital relationship brings a life of certainly, joy, and abundance. Without Him, Jesus says we can accomplish nothing. We often feel like we can, but is the meaningful, impactful deeds of Jesus? Our life indicates our abiding, and will be a representation to everyone we know that abide in Christ.

God Chasers - 4. Athletes train for countless hours, just for the opportunity to win the gold, or championship. Their efforts will be remembered for a moment, but as disciples we have an opportunity to run a race where all who “train for godliness” gain an eternal crown. The ultimate goal of our spiritual CrossFit is to be connected to Jesus now, and for eternity.

God Chasers - 5. Of all the the distinguishing characteristics Jesus could have said a disciple could hold, and there are many, He chose love. Love for one another, Jesus said, is what proves we are disciples. It isn’t what we say, it isn’t what we know, it is how we love one another, even the unlovable.

God Chasers - 6 / Final. Does your heart yearn for more of God? Do you wish to seek Him passionately, and always? We are not wired to do so, but God is always drawing us to more of Him. In this final session, I want to extend an invite to join a very exclusive club / fellowship. There are few who are “members”, but for those who are, they are rewarded with a passionate pursuit of God for eternity.
