The CrossCurrents Vision
"Breaking down barriers and building bridges back to God"
Four years ago when I (Dean) arrived at Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas, I became well-acquainted, and now great friends with, Mike Agee, the General Manager of 88.3 FM, The Journey, which broadcasts Christian Contemporary Music from the campus of the University. In this listening audience, from Grandbury to Grand Prairie, and Grandview to Fort Worth, Texas, there are approximately 100,000 weekly listeners as of the last demographic study. Of this listenership, approximately 20% (20K) of them do not have a church family they call their own. Thus the burden to connect the disconnected was born. Whether someone in this target group has never been to church in their life, or left church due to a bad experience, it is the desire of CrossCurrents to reach each of them, and remove the barriers, and build bridges back to God.
The Impact of CrossCurrents
CCC was developed to reach those who have a knowledge of God, and deepen their faith, as well those who are far from God, whose personal view of God is negative, and became distorted by Satan, or perhaps even worse, by well-meaning Christians and churches who thought they were doing God's work, but instead bruised and battered a person instead.
While the informational part (sermons and podcasts) included on this website begins a dialogue with people, evidence is clear that many of these disconnected individuals desire a place to gather, where they can be themselves, and not judged for where they are on their personal faith journey. "The Worship Experience" is a live event for those who wish to connect with others, experience God, and join in sharing God's love in practical ways with the community.
Be Involved in CrossCurrents
If what you have read so far resonates with you, and you would like to partner with a financial gift, or your time and talent, we need you! Each of our Worship Experience events costs money for space rental, musicians, advertising, refreshments, and more. Your gift towards these live events is tax-deductible and will have a significant impact on the lives of those who attend.
If you are local to the DFW area, and would like to volunteer at one of our Worship Experience events, we need people with smiling faces for our First Impressions ministry (welcome people), those who believe in the power of intercessory prayer to meet with people after the service as part of Restoration Prayer Ministry (R.P.M.s), have a talent for audio-visual-lighting, graphics design for media content, and enjoy just serving others with the gift of helps on logistics.
